Business Informatics (B.Sc.)
Business Informatics … What is it?
This programme is a combination of business management and IT ... no longer! Rather, business informatics focuses on those techniques which are relevant for the workplace and on gaining insights into and a deeper understanding of business management and information technology. It is more than just the sum of its two halves. For businesses and corporations, there is value added through the clever implementation of information systems in their business processes.
Business Informatics ... Does anybody really need it?
It is this unique combination of business management and information technology that is highly sought-after. According to a study conducted by BITKOM (a national association for IT, telecommunication and new media) in October 2011 (see study), from 38,000 available positions in the IT sector in September 2011 (vs. 28,000 in September 2010), 84% of these were for software developers, 40% for sales and marketing experts and 36% for IT consultants.
Business Informatics ... Why study at the DHBW Loerrach?
We offer students the choice between two majors: Application Management, which focuses on IT planning within the company (for work as an IT consultant or in sales and marketing) and Software Engineering, which deals with creating IT (for work as a software developer).
You can find further information about these two majors here:
Application Management (in german)
Software Engineering (in german)
